Long Story Short: October 10, 2011

October 10, 2011 - Chronic respiratory problems hitting large populations in Los Angeles have puzzled doctors and scientists such as Dr. Andre Nel. He calls in to discuss the research leading up to the discovery of dangerous ultrafine particles spewing from our exhaust pipes. Also, rising sea levels in the central Pacific Ocean are threatening to flood the island nations of Kiribati, Tokelau and Tuvalu. A troupe of 36 dancers and singers from the threatened islands will embark upon a tour across America, including a performance at Royce Hall this Saturday to record their legacy. UCLA emerita Professor Judy Mitoma, who is producing the dance show, tells us who these people are and the message they wish to convey. While they enlighten us as to what’s happening in the outside world, our in-house love guru Matt Lee takes us inside ourselves by examining one of the strongest forces of nature – love.

Long Story Short streams Mondays at 6 p.m. on UCLAradio.com.
